Find your way
Back Downtown.
Not so long ago, thousands of Winnipeggers commuted downtown daily. This diverse community appreciated what our city’s centre had to offer: the spontaneity of the environment—the surprise interactions, unexpected events, and the creative collision of its workers, entrepreneurs and artists in the city’s core.
They recognized downtown for what it is: the epicentre of our city’s energy. It’s where the action is.
The action is still here. Downtown still has all the best art, culture, and architecture in the city. It hosts concerts, live theatre, sporting events and celebrations—but it’s the people that make it feel alive. Without that diverse group of people who believe in it, invest in it and participate in it, our downtown’s vitality is lost. That vitality is about people. It’s about you.
The Back Downtown initiative is here to serve up little reminders of what you loved about downtown so much in the first place. We want to invite you to come back in your own way, and to help us welcome even more people back—to grab lunch with a colleague, join friends for happy hour, or stick around for a game, a concert or the latest exciting event on offer.

We want to inspire you to Find Your Way Back Downtown.
What You Can Do Now
When we build enough energy and excitement, people will come back downtown—and stay. If you’re ready to be a part of that change, show your support on social media and use the hashtag #backdowntownwpg in your caption to flood others with inspiration for their next visit Back Downtown.
What’s to Come
Expect to find inspiration for the best places to visit, a “wayfinding” challenge to bring you to new featured businesses all winter, and interactive ways to show your support for finding your way Back Downtown.
